Lametta - the design Christmas market in Karlsruhe
Flashy, colorful, unusual and with lots of glitter - that's the tinsel Karlsruhe.
The Karlsruhe Christmas market is a good mix of food and drink stalls as well as creative and arts and crafts stalls. But somehow it's similar at every Christmas market: there are wood carvings, candles, spices and woolen items. You won't usually find anything really unusual or unique, but in Karlsruhe, this is exactly what the Lametta Design Christmas Market is for.
Alternative, colorful and unique
The "Tinsel" is a design Christmas market in the madhouse. For twelve years now, unique handmade items from the fields of fashion, jewelry, design, art, photography and much more have been on sale here every 2nd weekend in Advent. Most of the 90 or so exhibitors present their products themselves and they really are anything but industrially manufactured standard Christmas items.
The popularity of the concept can also be seen from the fact that the first Lametta, which was held for the first time in 2010 in the smaller neighboring Fleischmarkthalle, moved to the Tollhaus after just two years. And it's no longer an insider tip that you can buy the most alternative, creative and unique Christmas gifts at Lametta!
Something for everyone
The atmosphere is informal and the ambience is something completely different. You will look in vain for run-of-the-mill stands here, instead there are lots of pallets, old ladders or construction fences that have been converted into shelves, storage areas or partitions. One highlight is the Paletti market, where the size of the stand is determined by a pallet, so that the goods have to be presented not only with charm but also skill in the smallest of spaces. A DJ plays relaxed music and the exhibitors are always in a good mood and up for a chat. You'll also get your money's worth in terms of taste: look forward to delicious baked apples!
