Your arms are crossed in front of your chest and your body is tense. The countdown is on. At any moment, the trapdoor could swing open and it's off downwards - a 14-meter free fall into the depths! This is the red "Aqua Rocket" at Europabad Karlsruhe.

The water slides at the Europabad in Karlsruhe

Things get wild in the slide paradise at the Europabad in Karlsruhe. Action fans can hurtle down the 100-metre-long white water river. In contrast, the 170-metre-long tire slide offers more leisurely fun. Accompanied by adventurous lighting effects, the slide descends over many bends.

"My favorite slide is the Green Viper," says pool manager Oliver Sternagel. He particularly appreciates the many adventure elements, such as light and sound effects. The slide, which starts through the open mouth of a green snake, was configured by the guests of the Europabad. An integrated photo station provides an extraordinary souvenir photo. Visitors can send this directly from the Europabad to their own e-mail address and then post it on Instagram or Facebook.

Since 2018, there has been another slide, the "Tarantula adventure slide". With a length of 111 m, it delights with impressive lighting effects and the highlight of the slide, the "spider's web" in the impressive funnel. Under the impressive LED sky, bathers can do two to five laps in the "spider's web" before being pulled by the suction of the water towards the spider's cave and plunging further into the depths of the "Tarantula".

The "Sky Surfer" waterslide opened in summer 2021. It runs at a height of 8 meters above the indoor adventure pool and guarantees a special surfing experience. With a total length of 61 meters, those who slide can show how well they can keep their balance and at the same time get an all-round view of the indoor pool. Fun for young and old!

"Kai the shark" children's world

But the Europabad can also do things differently - just one pool further on, the little ones romp around in the "Kai the Shark" children's world. The crowd favorite here - next to Kai, of course - is a wooden barrel on the suspension bridge. It slowly fills up with more and more water until it suddenly tips over and gives those waiting below a refreshing dip. "You can always see the 16-year-olds, who are just as happy as the dwarves," reveals Sternagel. By dividing the children's world into two areas, one for babies and toddlers up to 3 years and one for children from 3 and up to 12 years, everyone can have a fun experience. The youngest splash around in the children's pool, surrounded by a lighthouse with a slide and the gold panning channel. Older siblings can enjoy the South Sea hut with its tipping bucket and climb over the suspension bridge. The pirate ship with two water cannons, tipping bucket and larger slide also provides a real South Seas adventure.

Adventure and relaxation go hand in hand here

In the adventure pool, the action continues in the current channel. Those seeking relaxation will find neck showers, bubble loungers and massage jets. Swimmers can do their laps in the adjacent 25-meter pool. Right next to it, sports enthusiasts can climb over the water in the aquacross course, just like in a high ropes course - only without a safety harness. Because if you fall, you just get wet. Friends and family members like to race each other across the wobbly beams, floating islands and hanging stations. "What the visitors do here may look very easy, but it's really exhausting. It's wet, it's slippery and everything wobbles," explains Raphael Becker, public relations employee at the Karlsruhe pools.

Sauna area and recreational facilities in the Europabad

In the Karelian sauna village, designed entirely in Scandinavian log cabin style, heat fans can enjoy special sauna experiences in addition to the classic Finnish sauna. In the druid sauna, a magic potion made from fresh and home-grown herbs from the Europabad Karlsruhe is simmering on a massive stone stove. Every hour on the hour, guests listen to a legend from the Middle Ages. Visitors can enjoy another extraordinary sauna experience in the Excalibur sauna. Here, sauna guests can experience the infusion with mystical sounds and torch-like wall lights. "In the Excalibur sauna, a sword is set in the stone of the sauna heater. Only the infusion master, the true King Arthur of the Europabad, can pull out the sword," explains Raphael Becker. "But anyone is welcome to try it out, of course".

There is also the Karelian sauna ritual in the specially built Vihta ritual sauna. This is a traditional Finnish/Russian cleansing ritual in which sauna staff gently beat the visitors' bodies with weniks (birch branches). This opens the pores, removes dirt and improves blood circulation to the skin. The birch has a cleansing, anti-inflammatory effect and creates an optimistic mood.

In the Ice Lounge , you can experience the cold with all your senses - a great refreshment, especially after sweating and in hot weather! A cold interlude after the sauna is as important as the heat itself, as it turns the sauna session into an invigorating experience. The central element of the Ice Lounge is an ice fountain. Here, visitors can reach into truly sub-zero temperatures, as the Ice Lounge has pleasant, slightly above-zero temperatures.

Discover other saunas and wellness facilities such as the steam bath, foot baths, a plunge pool and much more.
