Galerie Markaj - impressive art in the city center of Karlsruhe
Art fans will love Patrick Markaj's paintings and sculptures in Südliche Waldstraße
Patrick Markaj's aim is to make art tangible and accessible to everyone and - as in Südliche Waldstraße - to create a meeting place for artists and art enthusiasts. In addition to his second-hand store kontr:AST and his AST ART artists' café, the Markaj Gallery is also part of this project, bringing art to the fan-shaped city of Karlsruhe.
Two artists - one vision for Karlsruhe - fashion, art and pleasure
The fact that the artist Marvin Meyer and the gallery owner Patrick Markaj have a special connection is immediately apparent - here two opposites complement each other, forming a perfect symbiosis of creativity, which can be experienced in the Markaj Galleryas well as in the AST ART CAFÈ find their expression. "We got to know each other through a mutual friend and it quickly became clear that we both wanted to create something together," says Marvin Meyer, who has been working as an artist for over 20 years. "I first had my studio where the AST ART CAFÈ is now. I then found a wonderful location for my studio in the backyard of the southern Waldstraße 81. When the interior space became available, it was perfect and we were able to set up Galerie Markaj there," says Meyer. "The second-hand store, the café and the gallery all opened in quick succession," says Markaj. "That was great, because it gave us a triad of fashion, art and enjoyment in one and the same street in Karlsruhe," he adds.
The gallery as a showcase for the artist symbiosis in Karlsruhe
Whether impressive sculptures, intuitive and expressive explosions of color, installations or paintings with fine, light lines that show the connection between man and nature - in the Markaj Gallery it becomes clear how harmoniously opposites can complement each other. Works by different artists are always on display. Patrick Markaj is currently exhibiting works by the following artists at Waldstrasse 81:
- Marvin Meyer
- Kassandra Becker
- Simone Lepoutre
"My art is characterized by the fact that I make every color scheme completely intuitively, without following trends or tendencies. Many people ask me what I was thinking when I created it, but what is much more important is what the viewers think and feel when they see my art," says Meyer, describing his works. Karlsruhe residents can find more paintings at the AST ART CAFÈ, as well as at kontr:AST. Art is for everyone and should be made accessible to everyone, says the gallery owner, describing his work in Südliche Waldstraße.
Only a small part of the art is shown here in the gallery. It is the shop window, but the café is the meeting place where we all come together, talk about art and enjoyment and inspire each other.
"We still have a lot planned and are of course always happy to receive visitors and inspiration," says Markaj.
