A riot of color in the ETTLINGER TOR with Kerstin Sokoll
The Karlsruhe artist takes you into the world of color with her pop-up gallery
Until the end of January 2025, Kerstin Sokoll's works will be on display in the pop-up gallery on the upper floor of the ETTLINGER Tor, covering over 400 square meters. Since November, Sokoll's gallery has been showing how versatile, colorful and captivating art can be. "My pop-up gallery is a place for everyone. Many people come here to take a break from shopping in the mall, young people come in small groups and engage with the art together, families discover the fantasy world of my works with their children. That makes me proud and shows that art can reach everyone," says Kerstin Sokoll.
Expressive color power directly from Karlsruhe
Kerstin Sokoll discovered the path to art during her career as an event designer. She launched her international career with
her first exhibition - in 2018 during the Venice Biennale. Since then, she has impressed gallery owners and private individuals alike with her large-format works. "It usually starts with a vague idea and then ends in something completely different," says the artist, explaining her working method. All of her unique pieces are created in her studio in Knielingen. In a
multi-layered mixed media technique in acrylic on canvas.
A pop-up gallery as an artistic and interactive experience space
The oversized pop-up gallery is a novelty at ETTLINGER TOR. It offers Kerstin Sokoll plenty of space to show how versatile her art is in an impressive way: "My works are available for every art budget, from small-format unique pieces in a three-dimensional frame by designer Guido Maria Kretschmer to meter-high canvases," she explains her art collection. Her art can also be found on:
- Memory cards
- Puzzle
- Bags
- Jewelry
The unusual presentation of the artworks is also surprising: "When I took over the premises at ETTLINGER TOR, I noticed that the previous tenant still had the changing rooms here. That gave me the idea of redesigning them as art boxes. With neon colors and black light, visitors can get to know the artworks here in a completely different way," says the artist, describing this gallery special.
The artwork "All my ducklings", which Kerstin Sokoll created together with a cardiologist from Baden-Baden, can also be experienced interactively. "A 6-channel ECG is integrated into this work of art. By placing your hands on it, the heart rhythm is recorded and irregularities are detected directly via the app," explains Sokoll.
Whether you want to relax between shopping trips, get to know abstract art or are still looking for a very special Christmas present for art lovers - everyone, big and small, is welcome in Kerstin Sokoll's pop-up gallery. Let yourself be whisked away into the wonderful world of color and expressive art - right in the middle of the ETTLINGER TOR Center!
