Karlsruhe-Durlach State Winery
From the Rebveredlungsanstalt to the Karlsruhe-Durlach State Winery
The 256-metre-high Turmberg rises above the old margrave town of Durlach, the eastern part of Karlsruhe. The Karlsruhe-Durlach state winery is located at its foot.
Description
Founded in 1903 as a vine-growing institute and later operating as an independent research institute within the Karlsruhe Regional Council , the estate has been owned by L-Bank, the state bank for Baden-Württemberg, since 1993. It has set itself the task of successfully continuing the long tradition of viticulture on the Turmberg - with special wines with their very own character.
The mineral-rich limestone soils and the favorable microclimate are the prerequisites for their high quality. The winery devotes particular attention to the cultivation of traditional grape varieties. We have carefully selected suitable vines for the climate and soil on the Turmberg. And we cultivate them with the same dedication - using traditional cultivation and cellar methods.
These varieties harmonize particularly well with the terroir of the Turmberg and also certainly with your ideas of wine enjoyment: Riesling // Auxerrois // Pinot Blanc // Muscat Ottonel // Pinot Gris // Lemberger // Pinot Noir
Events at the Karlsruhe-Durlach state winery are always a highlight. WineWalkingWeekend in April, presentation of the new vintage in May and in July the estate opens its courtyard for the popular estate tasting.
Wine tastings are held individually on request for groups of 10 or more. Wine sales from the estate always Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 08.30 to 12.30, Tuesday and Thursday from 15.00 to 19.00. Every first Saturday of the month (except January & August) from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. Outside these times by appointment.
