Description
In the Federal Republic of Germany, the judiciary is basically a matter for the federal states; the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is the only federal public prosecutor's office. The office was established in 1950. The area of responsibility of the Federal Public Prosecutor General at the Federal Supreme Court essentially includes the first-instance prosecution of offenses against the internal security (e.g. acts of terrorist violence) and external security (e.g. espionage and treason) of the Federal Republic of Germany.
On the corner of Hans-Thoma- and Moltkestraße, a memorial stone commemorates the murder of former Federal Prosecutor General Siegfried Buback and his companions by RAF terrorists in April 1977.
