Baden State Theater Karlsruhe
The Staatstheater Karlsruhe is one of the largest multi-genre theaters in Germany. The opera, ballet, concert, drama, young state theater and digital theater create a varied and diverse cultural offering on the stages.
The Staatstheater is a state-funded institution whose mission is to make art and culture possible for the population in the spirit of the free democratic basic order. It creates a space for exchange and discourse for all those interested in culture.
Over 900
events per year take place in the four venues (Großes Haus, Kleines Haus, Studio, Insel), in guest performances or in special locations in the city. The Badisches Staatstheater is a crowd-puller in the city for the city. As a beacon, it radiates beyond Karlsruhe: regionally, nationally and internationally. On average, over 275,000 visitors are welcomed to the theater every year.
Over 700 employees and guest artists from 48 countries of origin work at the Staatstheater. As a major employer in the region, the multi-discipline theater unites over 100 extraordinary professions under one roof and offers a creative and international working environment in the heart of Karlsruhe. The repertory company enables planned, sustainable work and at the same time gives room for innovation. A central concern is to be sustainably open to all age groups, social classes and, above all, interculturally - in terms of program, audience and staff.
The Staatstheater sees itself as an interface between society, art and politics and networks with other cultural institutions in Karlsruhe and the surrounding area. As a member of several European opera and theater organizations the Staatstheater is also internationally networked.
